Project Paradise is the epitome of transitional kitchen design—timeless, functional, and refined. Working with Katherine Joy Interiors, this U-shaped layout was designed to offer the perfect balance of form and function, blending classic architectural elements with modern conveniences. Warm, white-washed rift white oak cabinetry wraps the perimeter of the kitchen, setting the tone for a bright and welcoming space, while a bold black island and range hood grounds the design with a dramatic focal point. Whether prepping meals, entertaining, or relaxing with family, this kitchen is as practical as it is beautiful.

Project Paradise Design Details

The Details

The U-shaped kitchen design is highlighted by the contrast between the white oak cabinetry and the striking black island, accented with black hardware on the perimeter and rich brass pulls on the island for visual interest. Three black-framed glass-front cabinets placed strategically in the corners add lightness and display space, while a large custom black range hood serves as the centerpiece above the countertop stove.

Panelled appliances—including a dishwasher, French door fridge, and freezer—blend seamlessly into the cabinetry for a sleek, built-in look. The layout thoughtfully incorporates custom storage solutions such as a Lemans corner cabinet, knife block, two-tier cutlery drawers, utensil dividers, a spice jar drawer, and a docking drawer designed specifically for charging electronic devices.

The Materials

The perimeter cabinetry is handcrafted from rift-cut white oak with a soft white-washed finish, offering subtle wood grain texture and a light, organic tone. The central island and custom range hood are finished in bold black, creating a high-contrast centerpiece. Black hardware on the white oak cabinetry complements the brass pulls on the island, delivering a balanced and refined palette.

Crown moulding adds traditional architectural charm, while panel-ready appliances maintain the clean lines of the design. Crisp white quartz countertops and a matching full-height backsplash complete the space, offering durability and a clean, luminous surface that ties the kitchen’s palette together beautifully. All materials are selected not only for their beauty but also for lasting quality and practical everyday use.
